Welcome to a store unlike any other – a store entirely dedicated to gay art. Not gay art as a niche, but as a heartfelt cause. Founded by a man who, in 1982 in Germany, published one of the first books on homosexual life – "Schwulenbuch – Lieben, kämpfen, leben" (The Gay Book – Loving, fighting, living) – and who has never stopped making homosexual visibility his mission ever since.

Our store is a greeting to all gay men in Portugal, not just the gay community in Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra, but across the entire country; we are many and we are everywhere. We are with you for visibility and identity. That's why we deliver all products – wall art, mugs with gay motifs, and home decor – directly to your home at good prices.

Portugal has a rich history of art – from Almada Negreiros to Paula Rego, from Columbano to Vieira da Silva. But homosexual love in art? It was excluded from museums, pushed away from public spaces. KUNSTWERK BILDER brings it back.

We think of the great masters who shaped the history of European art and culture. Claude Monet painted light. Renoir painted tenderness. Van Gogh painted longing. Chagall painted love. But homosexual men? They didn't appear on any canvas. Not because they didn't exist – but because the world wouldn't allow it.
