We welcome you to the website of a shop that is one of a kind – a shop exclusively dedicated to gay art. Not gay art as a niche, but as a matter of the heart. Founded by a man who published one of the first books on gay life in Germany in 1982 – "Schwulenbuch – Lieben, kämpfen, leben" (Gay Book – Loving, Fighting, Living) – and has since consistently championed gay visibility.

Our shop is a greeting to all gay men in Austria, not just the gay community in Vienna, Graz, and Salzburg, but across the entire country; we are many and we are everywhere. We stand with you for visibility and identity. That's why we deliver all products, wall art, mugs with gay motifs, and decorations for your home directly to you under good conditions.

Austria has a rich art history – from Gustav Klimt to Egon Schiele. But gay love in art? It was banned from museums, kept out of galleries, pushed out of public view. KUNSTWERK BILDER brings it back.

We think of great masters who shaped the art and cultural history of Europe. Claude Monet painted light. Renoir painted tenderness. Van Gogh painted longing. Chagall painted love. But gay men? They never appeared on a canvas. Not because they didn't exist – but because the world didn't allow it.
