BILDER, DIE NIE GEMALT WURDEN*
Von Schwulen für Schwule | Wir machen schwule Kunst sichtbar
* Fast alle Künstler, denen wir unsere Bilder zuordnen, haben niemals schwule Motive gemalt, obwohl viele selbst schwul waren. Wir zeigen, was sie nicht malen durften.

Banana Games - We send our bananas into battle
Two battling bananas – humorous, provocative, and full of symbolism. W. Schwamborn transforms everyday fruits into a playful metaphor for male eroticism and gay sexuality. The bananas wear condoms in bright rainbow colors – a witty reference to gay sex, pride, and safer sex all at once.
Where a penis cannot be shown, a banana is used instead. Schwamborn plays with this convention and turns it into a statement: the battling bananas represent sexual energy, desire, and the joy of men playing with their cocks. The rainbow colors in the background celebrate pride and diversity, while the condoms serve as a reminder of responsibility and self-care – without losing the humor.
This image is pure joie de vivre – colorful, cheeky, unapologetically gay, direct and unambiguously determined, and full of self-irony. Perfect for anyone who combines art with humor, celebrates sexual freedom, and wants to adorn their walls with a statement.
About W. Schwamborn
W. Schwamborn, known from a young age for his "Handbook for Conscientious Objectors," has been instrumental in shaping the gay movement in Germany since the early 1980s – as an activist and editor of the "Schwulenbuch - Lieben, kämpfen, leben" (Gay Book - Loving, Fighting, Living). As the creative force behind KUNSTWERK BILDER, he creates many of the works himself and curates the artistic selection with a knack for the provocative, the poetic, and the political.
He shares a long-standing friendship with Tim Lienhard, who also has his own edition in this shop, dating back to their work on the "Schwulenbuch."

Nothing is more beautiful than...
In Japan, during the annual fertility festival, they parade giant symbolic phalluses through the city. I confess, I, being crazy about cocks, wish we had this gesture in our culture too. As boys, we wake up one morning with a wooden feeling between our legs, and from then on, there's no peace. During puberty, it stands up at every inappropriate moment, no matter what we're thinking. Later, it reminds us every morning, having turned into a latte, that it controls us. That's no real excuse for harassing women with dick pics. But as gay men, we at least have one privilege: we are quite free to show each other our tools and be ecstatic about the other's. To art that elevates our fantasy
