Monet, born in 1840 in Paris, was one of the pioneers of Impressionism – an art movement characterized by its vibrant, spontaneous depiction of light and color. He achieved his breakthrough in 1872 with the painting "Impression, Sunrise," which gave the movement its name. From then on, Monet devoted himself primarily to depicting nature, especially his beloved garden in Giverny.

This garden, which Monet designed and tended himself, became an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the artist. The water lilies, bridges, and willow trees he immortalized there are now among the most famous motifs in art history. With their soft color palette and impressionistic brushwork, Monet’s works create a very special atmosphere – a blend of calm, poetry, and vitality.

It is exactly this atmosphere that we want to capture with our products in the QUEER Design Shop. The Garden of Giverny – Monet’s Green Oasis

Monet spent the last 43 years of his life in Giverny, a small village in Normandy. Here, in 1883, he created a lush garden that fascinated and inspired him until his death in 1926.

The garden was divided into two parts: on one hand, the flower garden with its colorful beds, and on the other, the water garden with the famous Japanese bridge motif. Monet designed everything down to the smallest detail himself, from the path system to the selection of plants. This created a green oasis full of colors, shapes, and plays of light – exactly what Monet wanted to capture in his paintings.

Monet’s Legacy Lives On

Even today, Monet’s garden in Giverny exerts a magical attraction. Thousands of art lovers pilgrimage to this place every year to feel the inspiration of the master himself. And Monet’s legacy also lives on in art – whether in reinterpretations of his works or in the fascination that Impressionism continues to exert to this day.
